Beauty and the sublime: My interpretation
The Brief:
Produce a series of 6-12 photographs that convey your own interpretation of beauty and/or sublime within the context of landscape. You may choose to support, question or subvert accepted definitions of these terms.
I have interpreted this brief with a selection of photos taken in October in Scotland. Whilst the Glencoe area is often described as beautiful, I find that it also can be seen in menacing and sinister light. Therefore the crossover from Beauty to sublime (awe inspiring with an element of fear) seems directly related to the weather conditions which can change very rapidly. Glencoe is also infamous for the Massacre which took place in 1692 and feelings induced by the landscape also have a link to that shocking affair.

Reflection
Technical and visual skills - composition - use of leading lines, bright areas to draw the viewer in, rule of thirds, diagonal lines are all demonstrated. Waiting for the moment, in terms of light, has been done.
I think the set hangs together to demonstrate both Beauty and Sublime - but it is weighted towards to beauty aspect. There is an element of story telling with the rainbows at the beginning and end.
I am not sure I have related the assignment sufficiently to the work carried out in the foregoing projects.
